The leadership challenge:
Top 20 European Business School needed a custom 360 tool to support a mini MBA style (9 days) leadership development programme, for middle to senior management of a corporate client.
The solution:
Based on the client’s competency framework, the items for the 360 were generated, and CLD designed and developed an online custom 360 tool, incorporating comprehensive reporting, which generates details of leadership capability gaps and areas for improvement and development.
Arising out of the work on the client’s competency framework, CLD collaborated with faculty and associates to develop and teach competency based content, and provide back at office tools for leadership, team building, cultural diversity.
CLD facilitated reflective action learning using the outputs to continuously modify the programme content, and back at office tools. Arising from this the final day of the programme now incorporates personal action planning, based on the findings from the 360.
CLD also introduced support and challenge from peer coaching in pairs and in small self managing groups throughout the programme.
The results:
Following a pilot programme, the CLD online custom 360 solution was successfully used in 50+ countries for over 600 middle to senior managers.
Managers left the programme with a personal competency based leadership development action agenda tailored specifically to their context and needs.
The overall programme evaluation rating increased from an average of 16 out of 20 to an average of 18 out of 20 – an unprecedented success, leading to demand to attend the programme exceeding supply, and the number of programmes across Europe, the USA, and Asia expanding to satisfy this.
